Yay! I own my name!

by Jim on Jul.18, 2008, under Internets

Just a few minutes ago I registered jamesmorris.org. I never believed I could own a high level domain for my own name, seeing as it’s so popular. There’s just too many of us!

I guess I am an organisation now? Sweet…

All the site will do for now is redirect you here, but I guess it will come in handy for email. I know, it was a spur of the moment thing, but owning your name matters :P

I was about to swear at you for managing to buy ‘namey’ websites, but then remembered that I do actually have mine.. duuuuh

Yep, I just got mine as well (about 3 weeks ago). The funny thing is that I didn’t purchase my name domain until I had already owned about 150 others… guess it just shows my priorities ehh?

Congrats! I’m still waiting for my .com to expire and seriously, I have pretty uncommon name…

I’ve heard lots of nonsense about Google counting .org sites higher than similar .com domains all other factors absent.

Nice grab on your name, that is a great one. My name is not so common so I think I could get it, but yours I would have thought would be taken by someone.

Mine has been taken long time ago, I should have bought it when it was available, but at that time I didn’t see it useful, godaddy was rubbing it in my face all the time “you name is available”…

Nice pickup. Was it a domain that just expired?

    Gratz.

I knew a guy called Michael Jackson. Seriously. Fat chance he’s got to own a domain in his name ;-)

I had to shell out $900 to buy my name in the .com form. I think it was worth it as I have earned much more than that from the blog I placed there. But I do think it’s pretty stupid to have all these domain squatters buying them all up and they have no reason to own it in the first place.

You did it at a right time because I haven’t my name empty. Someone else already have registered it. That’s too bad but I am happy that you have owned your own.

Nice, I am lucky because I have a weird name and nobody else would have it, so I was able to get the .com version of my own name…thanks for good info on the blog, it’s a good read, I’ll be back.
